Indie-folk singer Maya Solovey is a woman of the world. A globe trotter since her teens, her travels and sense of adventure has inspired her to create a sound uniquely her own. An enchantress, both soulful and mysterious, her voice lures you into a sense of calm. With six records under her belt, music featured in films, TV and commercials, Solovey still retains a sense of coltish experimentation. Her latest album, Blue Heart, set to release October 28th was a personal labor of love, many years in the making.
Many creative voices went into the ultimate creation of Blue Heart, including multi-Grammy winning producer Bassy Bob Brockmann, Hank Sullivant and James Richardson of MGMT and Robert “Chicken” Burke of Parliament Funkadelic. Poppy with an intelligent breadth and scope, songs like ‘With You’ and ‘Judy Gumtree,’ are infused with a sense of playful allurement. Exotic and lush, with a fresh perspective and easy engagement, Blue Heart, promises to be an album worth discovering.
Get a sneak preview of the album October 9th at Rockwood Music Hall, start time 7 PM sharp. Joining Solovey on stage will be Ilusha Tsinadze on guitar, Nate Allen on bass and Richie Barshay on drums.
