This past Friday saw the opening of the annual New York City Guitar Festival at the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place with the Raga Marathon. The full day event featured sets by Debashish Bhattacharya on slide guitar, Anupam Shobhakar on sarod before giving way to the Rez Abassi Quartet playing along to the classic silent film, “A Throw of Dice”.
The festival continues the next few Thursdays with sets by Margaret Glaspy, Trixie Whiteley, Marc Ribot, and Steve Gunn at the Jerome L. Greene Performance Space. See the full schedule here…
