One of America’s greatest jambands moe. will do an intimate show at the Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club at the South Street Seaport for the second year in a row on Wednesday June 26.

moe. is an American jam band, formed at the University at Buffalo in 1989. The band members are: Rob Derhak (bass, vocals), Al Schnier (guitar, vocals, keyboard), Chuck Garvey (guitar, vocals), Vinnie Amico (drums), and Jim Loughlin (percussion). The band’s first record, Fatboy (1992), established the band as a favorite of the 1990s jam band and improvisational rock scene that grew in popularity with bands such as Phish and Widespread Panic. Just as Grateful Dead followers were coined “Dead Heads”, avid moe. fans embrace the term “moe.rons.”

During an interview, guitarist Al Schnier was asked to describe moe. for those who have never heard their music: “It’s an amalgamation of a wide variety of the history of rock, all regurgitated and recycled through the eyes, ears, hands, whatever of the guys in our band and all of that with a sense of adventure, a sense of humor, also a constant desire to push the envelope. All in this arena of taking chances, improvising live, and making things up on the spot.”

About The Venue
The Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club was destroyed during Hurricane Sandy but is currently under construction for summer 2013. Located within the South Street Seaport, the Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club is New York City’s hottest summer venue for outdoor events, along the East River under the stars on the 200-ton sandy beach. The band will play under a 10,000 sq. foot open-air beer tent with the East River and the iconic Brooklyn Bridge as the backdrop.
